Grazing Traditional Lancashire Grasslands

This project will focus on establishing the infrastructure required so that The Lancashire Wildlife Trust can accommodate populations of rare breed grazing animals; this will help to reverse the decline of rare and threatened grassland habitats, improve their associated biodiversity as well as conserving the livestock breeds themselves. We plan to bring 5 current traditional grasslands into favourable SSSI conditions; they need fencing, both permanent and electric, the provision of water in some form as well as handling facilities to allow safe treatment of livestock. The animals will need to be moved from one reserve to another so suitable trailers will need to be purchased and vehicles maintained.
