Great Fen Amazing Grazing

Amazing Grazing is designed to improve the gazing infrastructure at the Great Fen. The existing system based on simple electric fences helped establish new grassland over large areas. This project will create a more adaptable and nuanced system to allow us to recreate natural processes in the complex wetland habitats that are starting to develop.

We will purchase fence cattle collars and GPS technology that enable grazing to be precisely targeted and easily tailored to changing conditions. We will improve perimeter fencing as a back up in high risk areas near the railway line and roads. We will improve hard standing for vehicle delivery of livestock and conducting veterinary checks.

The project will ensure that our conservation grazing management evolves as the Great Fen grows in size and complexity.
