GREEG Community Market Garden – Phase 1

Geilsland School Beith is an Approved School run by Crossreach. On its extensive grounds, a derelict greenhouse / walled garden area will be redeveloped as a joint school / community market garden project. The garden will act as a demonstration of best practice and training facility in the sustainable food production system incorporated into the Fairlie and Bothwell Community Gardens. This system involves the thermophilic composting of the school’s kitchen and garden waste in HotBoxes, mineral enrichment with basaltic rockdust, wormcast production in a vermiculture unit with intensive horticulture in a greenhouse complex and outdoor raised bed area. Training course will be offered form this facility.

This application is only for Phase 1 of the project.
