Green Energy for Gordon Rugby League RFC, Glos

The project is to install 64 450W solar panels with batteries on to the changing room building at Gordon League RFC. The aim of the project is to reduce the club’s reliance on non-renewable energy and transfer over to natural resources as much as possible to lower the club’s impact on the environment and increase its sustainability. The solar panels will be located on the changing room building with its south facing roof. The solar array is a 28.80 kW PV system and will save 5,650kg of CO2/year, the equivalent of three London to Sydney flights. The installation of batteries will enable the club to store energy produced during the day for use in the evenings when the club has a higher energy usage. This will ensure that energy is not wasted. The electrical board will require updating at this time due to its age and condition. The club has been situated at the heart of the community for over 130 years.
