Green Energy to Power Soudley Village Hall, Soudley Recreation Ground and Village Hall Trust, Glos

This is a project to remove the current oil boiler system and replace it with a new air to air heat pump system.

The aim of this project is to develop a sustainable source of energy to power the heating for the hall, reduce its carbon emissions, and increase the future sustainability of the facility to support local community life, reduce isolation and enhance community integration, to protect the community and designated warm space centre.

Scope of Work

• Removal of the current oil boiler system and associated components.
• Installation of an air source heat pump system suitable for the facility’s heating demands.
• Upgrades to any necessary plumbing and electrical infrastructure to accommodate the ASHP system.
• Integration of a control system to optimise heating efficiency based on occupancy and usage.
• Assessment of the current insulation and, if necessary, improvements to retain heat effectively and optimise ASHP performance.

Soudley Recreation Ground and Village Hall is the hub of the local community. It is used for a multitude of activities, occasions, and events. The project will bring the facility up to the recommended standard for operation. In time this will allow the charity to improve its eco sustainability through the implementation of solar PV. The organisation is taking on the renovation and revitalisation of the community hub to benefit all local people, current users, and potential future users. Without the suggested upgrades the facility will fall into a state of disrepair and eventually lose its user groups and subsequently close. The reduction of social isolation and enhanced community integration is at the forefront of village life.
