Green Space Access Improvements – Birkswood Bank and Fox Glen

The Steel Valley Project has been requested to repair and up grade footpaths on two sites; Birkswood Bank and Fox Glen. These paths are increasingly derelict with wooden revetments rotting and collapsing and the path surface sloping to one side as the path slides down the slope.
Both sites are heavily used by local visitors using these greenspaces and as access to and from local schools.
The footpath repairs are to remove derelict footpath sections, build revetments and rebuild the path surfaces through the footpaths sections identified.
Materials will be from locally sourced tanalised wood and the path surfacing materials will be from recycled amterials, crushed brick and tarmac planings.
Work will be carried out by contractors with some preperation prior to contract works being achieved by volunteers working with the Steel Valley Project.
