Green volunteering at Wigg Island Country Park

As part of the Natural Health Service project we are running a green volunteering group on a Friday morning at Wigg Island for members of the public who want to improve their fitness and help to manage the country park at the same time. Activities range from gentle to strenuous, such as light gardening, bulb planting and coppicing. The volunteers involved get a sense of achievement from completing a worthwhile conservation task and at the same time feel better from being outside and doing some exercise in the fresh air. In addition they are helping to improve and enhance the wildlife habitats found at the park.
