Projects / Greener Grangetown

Greener Grangetown

Grangetown, Cardiff is a thriving urban community of almost 20,000 residents with a population density nearly twice the average of the city; it is one of the most diverse communities of any council ward in Wales. This unique project will create multiple green spaces, including ‘rain gardens’, within a design framework that will protect the natural, built and social environment through sustainable water management. It will include works to make a safer cycling route along the Taff Embankment. The River Taff runs alongside and to the east of Grangetown and the ‘embankment’ includes a footpath and cycle way linking the city centre to Cardiff Bay. The ‘Taff Trail’ Cycle route forms part of the National Cycle Network (Route 8); it attracts an ever growing number of visitors whilst providing a means of sustainable transport for the local community. The trail provides recreation for cyclists and walkers.
