Greenfield Gardens Community Play Enhancement, Friends of Greenfield Gardens, Dudley

This is a project to provide inclusive and modern play equipment at Greenfield Gardens.

Greenfield Gardens is located near the centre of Stourbridge and is a publicly accessible green space providing tranquillity, play space and a community meeting space for all generations. The aim of the project is to provide the local community with more inclusive and modern play equipment which will increase the attractiveness of the park, but it will also allow those who are less able to enjoy the play facilities as well. The plan is to install items of equipment which will make this play facility more diverse for local children.

Greenfield Gardens has an active and well-established friends’ group (constituted in 2017) who provide community engagement opportunities throughout the year. Attracting hundreds of visitors to the planned events, the friends’ group has established a recognised series of events across the seasons, increasing appeal of the park and making it a clear attraction to the wider community.

This improved play equipment will allow a wider appreciation of the biodiversity offered in this pocket of green space and will encourage more people with a broad spectrum of accessibility to the park. Increasing the facilities will help make it more challenging and accessible for all members of the community. It is a well-used facility for those who attend the primary school which is adjacent to the open space as well.
