Greenspace Transformation – Eric Hendrie Park

The project will transform part of Eric Hendrie Park – a large park with mature trees with some new planting and a new children’s play area. The area at the north end of the park was the former play area which was moved a few hundred metres south. The surfacing and some remnants of play equipment remain. The area is vandalised and unsightly and has a dilapidated and unloved appearance which has a detrimental impact on the rest of the park.
The provision of high quality greenspace has an impact on the health of the local community and in particular local children through increased physical activity. The mental and physical wellbeing of the local community is improved through visiting high quality greenspace.
Near the park is Donald Dewar Court a care home for young adults with physical disabilities part of the area could be designed with this group in mind.
Most of the benefit will be to the local community of Mastrick (3413 households) and neighbouring Northfield (2180 households)
