Projects / Greenway Avenue Community Play Garden

Greenway Avenue Community Play Garden

This proposal will transform an overgrown and disused tennis court into a community play garden and sitting area with areas for food growing, planting, natural play, a small orchard, a wildflower meadow and sustainable elements such as a compost heap and water collection system. The site has been left unused for over 15 years and has become very over grown. It is a site which is often subject to fly tipping, and most recently has had people camping there for a period of time. The garden will incorporate spaces for growing food and plants alongside some natural play elements for children and some space for quiet sitting. There has also been a request to consider a small orchard area and a space for a bee friendly native wildflower meadow area and other bee-friendly planting. Sustainable elements such as a compost heap and if possible a water collection system, will be designed into the plan and where possible local resources will be used.
