Gretna Landmark project / Star of Caledonia

The project is to create a landmark at the main entry point into Scotland at Gretna. The project has commissioned a design from Land artist, Charles Jencks, who is working as creative director on the project, collaborating with world famous designer Cecil Balmond. The project aims to create a sculptural landmark public park which can be viewed from the motorway when travelling into Scotland but can also be accessed via and a new public footpath from both Gretna and Gretna Green and Springfield. The aim of the project is to welcome visitor to Scotland at its main entrypoint at Gretna. To create a spectacular new public space for visitors to stay and visit the area. To promote, through the design the innovation and creativity of the Scottish people.
