Gull Lightship: Restoration of Mast

To complete the restoration of the mast of the “Gull”. The “Gull” Lightship was the world’s second oldest lightship; it has been beached at Grays for over 60 years, and is an important landmark. However, the ship itself is a wreck, and the mast was recently removed for safety reasons, and initial restoration work carried out to make it safe and assess work needed, and store it until the next stage could commence. The project is to complete the restoration of the mast and erect it as a monument at Grays adjacent to the river Thames, with an integral solar lighting feature.
