Gwent Bat Survey Project

To gain greater knowledge of the distribution of bats in Gwent by surveys and monitoring in the wider environment as identified in the local biodiversity acton plan (LBAP).

Work will involve walking slowly along transect lines, attempting to pass a wide variety of habitat features, while taking recordings of bats. These recordings are later analysed.

Information gained will be mapped and made available to assist in further delivery of the LBAP, with regards to species management. Data will also be fed into national distribution records, enabling changes in distribution to be monitored and help raise a greater awareness of the most vulnerable species
