Hafod Country Park: Coal Mine History Interpretation Project

The project seeks to add interpretation on the old mine where none/very little exists at present. Led by the former miners, this is to take the form of picture panels showing views of the mine in 1960, leaflets, a website, an entrance name sign, and a sculpture trail on a mine theme. Hafod Colliery was restored to country park in 1997 and is now a wooded hill much used by the surrounding town. There is very little on the site to tell visitors of its former use. The mine closed in 1968 and there is an active group of ex miners who are keen to see more of their heritage recorded on the site for current and future generations to enjoy.
