Haggerston Park, Hackney – Play Area Refurbishment (007471)

Haggerston Park is an amazing park and has held a Green Flag Award since 2006. However, its play area does not currently meet the needs of the local community, it is limited in size, is not very accessible and focuses on play provision for preschool children. The project will update the existing play area and expand it into the adjacent grassed space so that it can cater to a wider age range of children, be more accessible and fundamentally provide a more fun and exciting space for local children. Widening the appeal of the play area will help to combat the high levels of childhood obesity in the ward. Additional trees and planting will improve the play areas biodiversity as well as providing colour and seasonal interest.
