Hailes Quarry Park

This project will enhance the facilities in Hailes Quarry Park, a former quarry and landfill site (owned by City of Edinburgh Council since 1972) in an area of multiple deprivation in Edinburgh. We plan to install a metal Goal End unit, with basketball hoop, to provide a kickabout/ballgames area in the Park, providing facilities for young people to take part in outdoor recreation activities. This will encourage increased physical activity and thus improved health and wellbeing, important in this area. The Goal End unit will be of robust, metal tubular construction to withstand any potential vandalism and will be installed with a suitable surfacing under the unit, such as safersurfacing or sand-filled carpet. The equipment will be installed by contractors and maintained by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Parks & Greenspace team and local task force.
