Haines Meadows grassland extension

To purchase three further fields at our land holding on the river Avon at Wick giving even more opportunities to conserve flood meadows in the Avon valley for its flora and fauna. As well as being ideal grassland sites for flood meadow wildflowers and associated pollinators these fields are in an area which holds some of the last breeding Curlews in Worcestershire. This wading bird has been in serious decline in recent decades and this land purchase offers an exciting opportunity for VLHT to manage the grasslands (which are adjacent to some of our existing LCF funded sites) for the wildflowers and breeding birds. The Project will also include a thorough biological survey of the whole site to inform a management plan to ensure we maximise the benefits to local biodiversity in this part of the Avon valley.
