Haines wetlands water-pump

Purchase and install a wind-pump to maintain areas of open water on our wetland. The unpredictable weather over the last few years has meant that our wetland does not flood as often as it once did. This means the site dries out earlier and does not provide the right habitat for breeding and passage wading birds. Pumping relatively small amounts of water from the river at appropriate times of year will ensure we retain the habitat required. Using wind-power to pump the water will be far more sustainable than diesel-powered pumps. The Environment Agency has been consulted regarding abstraction licences and we now require some specialist technical advice and a short pumping trial to finalise the best location for the pump.
