Haldens Park Wetland Wildlife Project

Haldens Park SUDS is a Sustainable Urban Drainage System which collects road run-off from the nearby housing estate before allowing it to flow into the River Mimram. Situated in the grounds of Haldens Park – which comprises of amenity grassland, a play area and footpaths to local housing estates and schools, Haldens Park SUDS has become silted up and is slowly becoming colonised by trees.
We propose to develop the area as a positive feature within the park, providing a haven for wildlife increasing biodiversity and creating an attractive environment for people. The proposed project will provide opportunities for members of the local community to enjoy wildlife close up in a safe environment. Local volunteers will be able to maintain the site as a place to come and visit.
