Halewood Triangle Park – Access to Nature Biodiversity Project

The project aims to restore and improve access to ponds across the site and establish a new wet woodland habitat.
This project will restore two small ponds within the Halewood Triangle Park by:
• re-enforcing the failing banks
• removing excessive nutrient deposits from surrounding trees
• planting reeds and water vegetation to aerate the water
• shape the banks and create habitat piles from trees removed as part of woodland management to promote amphibian species
The project will also shape and create an area of wet woodland along a boardwalk within Halewood Park. This will enhance the existing woodland block surrounding by planting native tree species e.g Alder ( Alnus cordata and Alnus glutinosa) and Willow (Salix alba) which will thrive in the wet conditions and help support bird species and insects.

The project will improve water retention and sustainable drainage across the site – ensuring the pathways and surrounding homes do not experience flooding or standing water during periods of heavy
