Halton Moor Nature Zone

The project site is a large area of public open space located off Cartmel Drive in Halton Moor. A footpath which links the estate to the local Meadowfield Primary School cuts through the site which consists mainly of open grass and pockets of woodland. Although the area is well used by the community, it is lacking in interest and stimulation.
The project involves planting a mixture of low maintenance shrubs, plants and wildflowers to provide much needed colour and attract a wider variety of birds and insects, constructing new paths to improve access, introducing mounds and other features for informal play, installing seating and carrying out woodland management. There is also some old outdoor exercise equipment on the site which would be retained and renovated.
