Ham Wall ‘Long Drove’ restoration

To restore an 18ha area, previously pump drained and extracted for peat back to a rich mosaic of wetland habitats, dominated by reedbed. This will benefit a range of wetland wildlife, but most importantly nationally rare species such as bittern, bearded tit, marsh harrier, reed bunting, otter and water vole. Located to the south of Walton Heath (an area previously restored with help from Wyvern Waste), Long Drove is a strategic addition to the RSPB’s existing land holdings.
