Harthill Village Hall, Sheffield – Refurbishment and Energy Efficiency (50091/D)

The project aims for the refurbishment and general upgrading of Harthill Village Hall, a former Miners’ Welfare building dating back to 1920. This is part completed following lounge and kitchen refurbishment in 2012. A major need now is to improve energy efficiency, particularly in the main hall. It is therefore intended to add much needed insulation, replace the ceiling and install LED lighting, reducing both carbon emissions and running costs.

There are two main elements: 1. Energy efficiency improvements including addition of insulation and replacement of existing lighting with LED lighting. 2. Installation of a new suspended ceiling at a raised level.

Installing the new ceiling at a raised level will also open up the potential for the hall to be used for indoor sports such as badminton and volleyball.

The Trust grant will contribute towards the refurbishment and energy efficiency improvements.
