Haslingfield Parish Council

To install a new moulded concrete skate park, renovate the adjacent basketball court and create a new seating area with wildflower planting which will form a community space for all to use. The site, next to Haslingfield recreation ground, was previously used as a skatepark with freestanding wooden ramps and basketball court, but the facilities have been removed because they were unsafe and the site had become a dark and uninviting space that people avoided.
The new skate park includes a mixture of classic street obstacles such as a steel rail, concrete ledge, concrete kerb cut and features such as concrete quarterpipes and cantilevered flatbank. Pigmented concrete will be used to give a sense of local character.

The facility will be constructed using a 120mm concrete slab rather than the typical 150mm. This still meets all necessary British standards but uses a significantly smaller amount of concrete and steel, reducing the carbon footprint of the skatepark considerably.
