Hayes - Safe & Sustainable Physical Activity Spaces

The project aims to improve the safety, usability, and long‑term resilience of the site’s outdoor activity areas. The existing all‑weather activity area is currently laid on an impermeable concrete base that has cracked beneath the matting, causing surface tears and significant water pooling. This creates unsafe conditions during physical activity sessions, further impacted by damaged netting that no longer contains balls effectively. The project will remove the existing concrete base, install a permeable 2.5m shock‑pad base, resurface the area, and replace the netting to ensure the space is safe and functional for regular use. Overall, the project will enhance community access to safe outdoor activity areas, support increased physical participation, and provide a more reliable and environmentally appropriate surface that manages water effectively.
