Headway ArtSpace

We propose physical enhancements to our premises, a Grade II listed former church to provide increased access to arts and creative opportunities for local people and community groups in Blyth. We currently have only one workshop/performance space for all our activities and can’t effectively have more than one activity happening at any one time. The additional space will help us meet current demand ensuring greater numbers can take part. The main church (sanctuary) currently has very limited access for public use. The pews are still in place, the flooring is uneven and in need of repair, the heating system is archaic and the boiler is beyond repair. We intend to remove the existing pews, re-using some to create audience seating and to lay a new floor to create an open, flexible and accessible space for local groups to access an enhanced programme of arts and drama activities.
