Primarily to contribute to the restoration of 105 ha of commercial forestry plantation into a mosaic of heath and acid grassland, helping to meet local and national species and habitat BAP targets. Funding is specifically required to: a) Control c.16 ha of birch and c.50 ha of bracken, preventing encroachment and enabling sunlight to reach the heather seedbank, promoting regeneration b) Install 2.1km fencing to control grazing cattle, essential to create diverse vegetation swards to benefit heathland wildlife, whilst preventing scrub encroachment c) Provide a water supply for cattle d) Promote heathland restoration on 3 ha by scraping off pine litter, exposing the seedbank.
