Heathland Restoration at RSPB Stoborough Heath, Grange Heath and Arne

This project will directly protect and restore 25.6 hectares of lowland heathland, a UK BAP habitat, on RSPB Stoborough Heath, Grange Heath and Arne. It will increase biodiversity by creating habitat for 6 BAP species: Sand lizard, smooth snake, silver-studded blue butterfly, nightjar, Southern Damselfly and the locally endemic Purbeck Mason wasp.
A contractor will complete a programme of gorse regenerative management, cutting gorse with a specialist 360° slew with circular cutting head.
