Heating Project, St Mary’s Church, West Bergholt, Colchester

This project is a like-for-like replacement of the existing gas fired heaters. The existing heaters were deemed unsafe to use, and irreparable in spring 2022. Following advice from heating and energy consultants and much deliberation, it has been concluded that the best option is to replace like-for-like at this time, rather than pursue a greener alternative, which would be ineffective with the building in its current state (ie an ancient church fabric with no insulation). Sitting in the centre of the village, it is in a special place and used by lots of people within the village throughout the year, and to be able to heat the building again will be of great benefit to everyone.
