Hedleyhope Community Association

The group are seeking funding to enable them to plant trees and shrubs around the sewage works which are situated close to the village. They would also like to provide tables and benches in a picnic area and other seating points along the side of the river Deerness which runs through the village. The plants and shrubs have been chosen to improve the environment and to attract wildlife as well as being visually pleasing which should encourage more people in the village to use the area. The seating and picnic areas will give the residents a useable facitlity and will also be used by visitors to the area. The group have already secured funding to create a new path running from the village to the land next to the sewage site. The land is leased on a peppercorn rent from the County Council and is maintained by the association.
