Heely Parish Church, Sheffield – Creation of community space (006436)

Re-establishing the church as a hub for the community by carrying out modernisation/conversion of the building into a multi-purpose community facility by removing pews/levelling floors/providing a ramp to raised stage area/new heating/lighting/moving the pulpit to provide a large stage area/provision of a room suitable for crèche/meetings. Main body of church will become a flexible & adaptable space, fully accessible to all, enabling the church to serve the community by providing specialist workshops, family & community-based activities. It will enable creative ways of church & community interacting, as well as making space available for use by community groups. organisation have consulted widely on the need for this new facility. Related to this they have already secured revenue funding for a new Families and Children’s worker who will use the new facilities for activities, developing new relationships with local organisations to broaden the community use.
