Hemington Recreation Ground, Derbyshire – New community pavilion (007019)

Land gifted to the villages of Hemington and Lockington was intended to be accessible and available to all for the purpose of recreation, social and sporting activities. Sadly, the gifted land and its open spaces can no longer be accessed and enjoyed by everyone because:
– The 1930’s hut is no longer safe and lacks basic facilities to meet the standards to support competitive sport.
– Vulnerable and immobile residents cannot safely access and use the gifted land all year round due to lack of facilities and accessibility.
– The local community and its residents do not have the local facilities to socialise or create community clubs in a way that takes advantage of the gifted open space and land.
The project intends to re-establish community use of the gifted land by building an accessible community building, run by volunteers, that meets the needs of the local sporting clubs, community groups and residents.
