Heron Corn Mill, Hydro Power Scheme, Beetham

The aim of the project is to install a Hydro-Power Turbine at the weir in the river Bela at Heron Corn Mill. The location of the mill is ideally suited to providing a more sustainable future by utilisling hydro-power technology to generate a revenue stream. The installation of an Archimedes Screw type turbine has been discussed with and approved by the Environment Agency in relation to the effects on fish such as salmon and trout. The turbine will be the only one in the North West and will help attract more visitors to this intersting, historical and educational site.
