Hexham Abbey East End Masonry Conservation and Repair

Restoration of the Abbey’s exterior East End masonry is urgent, due to loose masonry blocks. Remedial action has taken place to minimise the risk to public but comprehensive repairs are needed. Halting the steady loss of the complex architectural detail is important for protecting the Abbey’s heritage; its East End faces the market place so is the first impression seen by visitors. The restoration project will involve masonry and glazing repairs and installation of pigeon deterrent systems.
