Projects / Hill Court Farm Habitat Improvements

Hill Court Farm Habitat Improvements

The project involves the following vital habitat improvements on Hill Court Farm (HCF), a WWT flagship reserve and one of the largest wetlands in the county:
1) The creation of a deeper scrape to ensure permanent open water on the site. This will improve biodiversity, providing year round feeding habitat for wetland birds.
2) The creation of an additional crossing point to allow cattle to be moved rapidly across the reserve during floods.
3) The installation of fencing to allow for more flexible grazing and to expand an important reed area by fencing to prevent cattle browsing.
4) Hay strewing to improve the grassland quality and the purchase of tools to be used by our very active group of local volunteers.
