Hillyfields Community Orchard Restoration

The aim of the project is to restore the site and open it up to create a community orchard and local food resource, involving local schools, Friends of Hillyfields, the local community and landowner Medway Council by:- * Restoring and improving the existing orchard and woodland. * Providing training for the Friends of Hillyfields to enable them to undertake basic management and maintenance tasks. * Extending the range of native tree and shrub species e.g. kentish cob nuts. * Creating habitats e.g. dead wood piles. * Celebrating the restoration of the orchard through a community Apple Day event.
