Hinksey Heights alkaline fen grazing project

Hinksey Heights alkaline fen is one of only a few fens still existing in Oxfordshire. Using a range of complementary conservation techniques the fen is being managed for nature and climate resilience. The nature reserve is accessible throughout the year via permissive paths and the boardwalks throughout it allow visitors wonderful access to this unique habitat. The funding for this grant is for virtual fencing technology ie cattle collars which allow the grazier to manage the grazing so that the cattle move around regularly. This gives each grazed area time to recover between grazing periods.
