Projects / Histon Methodist Church solar panels

Histon Methodist Church solar panels

The project is to fit solar panels to the church roof and install associated batteries to reduce carbon-based energy use to in the interests of energy efficiency and environmental improvement. This project is part of HMC’s long term strategy to become carbon neutral. This first step will enable us to reduce our electricity bills and reduce our bills related to our gas fired heating boilers. The reductions can be passed on to the groups and individuals who hire our rooms in reduced hire costs.

Also, as we do this work and strive towards the Eco Church Gold Standard, we are engaging our church community to make changes to their own lives from an ecological and carbon reduction perspective.

Regular hirers include: H&I Village Society, H&I Archaeology Group, HI |Friends, Women’s’ Institute, Hope Again Bereavement Group, Gardening Club, Farmers’ Market, Craft Group, Wednesday Coffee Shop, Country Dancing, Sustain Connect, Pilates, Yoga and Zumba.
