Hocombe Mead Local Nature Reserve Hampshire – Boardwalk Improvements (005541)

Hocombe Mead Local Nature Reserve (LNR) is a well-used public reserve in the heart of Chandler’s Ford. The project will enable a variety of conservation activities to take place eg. to restore the species rich meadow, coppice the ancient bluebell woodland and expand the heathland restoration area. The boardwalks forming a permissive path through the wet woodland have been in situ since 1998 and have now deteriorated to a point where small scale repairs are no longer viable. The project will also install new boardwalks and 2 new bridges over the Monks Brook River to provide continued safe access for all of the community to the reserve and its wet woodland.
