Hollybush Leeds

A former rhubarb farm, Hollybush is a popular community centre and nature gardens in the heart of Leeds, managed by The Conservation Volunteers for wildlife and 10,000 visitors and beneficiaries a year.

The project will improve the visitor experience, making the site safer and more accessible for people of all ages and backgrounds. Toilet and community cafe facilities will be improved, enabling the site to stay open and accessible in all weather. Any income generated by this will be invested back into the site’s charitable aims. We also want to train and support local volunteers to re-develop the gardens, restoring and enhancing paths, ponds, hedgerow, woodland, and canalside environs, on a site that form a crucial wildlife and habitat link in the Aire Valley green corridor. This will also support the long term engagement of the community with our site, and giving people the chance to become environmentally active citizens.
