Holmfirth Duck Feeding Area Phase 2

The aim of this project is to build on the infrastructure work carried out as a part of the DFA Phase 1 work, to make the space more attractive and usable and include a performance area.

It will generate a public open space that has a strong identity as a gateway to Holmfirth town centre through the introduction of high quality sculptural landscape elements within the space created during Phase 1. Volunteers will help to improve this space by renewing the appearance of the recycling area through external grade paint application, cleaning the existing riverside path surface on a regular basis with a jet wash and assisting with the planting, pruning and maintenance of plants to achieve the original design aspiration of the pollarded willows and bright stem colour of the Cornus species.

LED lighting will promote the extended use of the space into the evening, and as a thoroughfare during festival weekends, providing direct public access through a series of attractive public open spaces.
