Holton’s Heathland Heritage

The project with fund part of the salary for the Countryside Estate Worker, who will focus work on the 60 hectares of heathland owned by this charity, designated as an SSSI.

Heathland currently in a favourable condition will be conserved and enhanced (approx. 30 hectares). The remaining 30 hectares of the heathland needs restoration work including thinning/removing pinewood, eliminating rhododendron, controlling age structure of gorse and heathe, re-establishing heather on newly cleared land
