Holybourne Church – Exterial Repairs

The exterior of the church is in dire need of maintenance. Work must be undertaken urgently to ensure that the walls are safe, retain their strength and are able to cope with the weather and the damp – the altar was built over the source of the “Sacred Stream” after which the village of Holybourne was named.
Old lime render has virtually disappeared leading to an accelerating loss of stone from the rubble walls. Some major stone needs replacing as does some of the stone window tracery and parts of the cast iron down pipes. The East Wall has been completed and now the rest of the church needs remediation. To retain the structural integrity of the church by generally consolidating stonework, replacing major stones where necessary and lime rendering the exterior of the nave, chancel and aisle walls. The tower is to be pointed and repaired in such a manner as to aid water run-off as it will not be rendered.
