Hook Miners Memorial Ground & Garden

To create a memorial garden to the history and workers of the local coalfield. The garden is sited where the Miners Welfare Hall once stood and will feature mining artifacts, landscaped areas and interpretation panels. Maintenance of the garden will be undertaken by local volunteers and the local school aims to incorporate the garden into its teaching of local history. The garden provides a lasting memorial to the miners and a place of tranquility and relaxation for local residents. The grant will go towards the costs of constructing and landscaping the garden, in particular enabling the group to purchase interpretation panels.
