Hopkin Street Recreational Area

Installation of a floodlit Multi Usage Games Area and creation of a community garden incorporating seating, litterbins, youth shelter and cyclerack, thereby resulting in increased physical activity and social interaction.
There is an identified gap in such facilities with high levels of youth annoyance and antisocial behaviour in Aberavon, which is an isolated pocket, cut off on 3 sides by main transport systems. It is difficult and dangerous for children to travel to nieghbouring communities to access such facilities.
Aberavon is recognised in the I.M.D. as one of the most deprived areas in Wales, ranked 36th out of 1896 communities.
