Horam Recreation Ground – Drainage and Levelling

The project comprises of two main elements; firstly the formation of a level playing area to the lower field of the Recreation Ground recently acquired by Horam Parish Council and secondly a comprehensive drainage network to the main recreation ground. The project for which funding is sought is the development of the lower field to provide a well drained level play area for use by a range of sports. The field has a fall in excess of 10m over its length and has limited use in its present condition. There is currently a three quarter sized football pitch marked out on the site but it slopes severely from end to end and the playing surface is poorly draining. The proposal is to undertake a “cut and fill” exercise which will provide two playing areas with a maximum gradient of 1:40. The larger area is sufficient to accommodate a full size football pitch, whilst the smaller area will provide a useful training area. The LCF part of the project is the drainage works to the ground
