Houghton Tennis Club Clubhouse

The project is to build a new clubhouse beside the existing courts. Council have approved plans and construction is ready to commence.

The clubhouse will provide essential facilities and will increase the courts’ usage – implying larger membership, greater club longevity, and less attrition of members leaving to go to other clubs with better facilities. It will also be used for social evenings, croquet matches, and other groups.

When raining, players currently seek shelter under the trees or in their cars – inappropriate for such as the coaching of youngsters or match play. After competition games the teams often currently go to players’ homes or the local pub for a meal, sometimes inappropriate for religious and age reasons. Rather than risk sitting outside in inclement weather members are often inclined to stay at home.
