House on the Hill Gardens

If we are lucky enough to be awarded funding, it would be spent improving our outdoor space. House on the Hill comes with a large rear garden and a large side garden space. Unfortunately, the spaces are not wheelchair friendly or even all the accessible to anyone with any mobility issues, having slopes and a large step to get out of the building, which is difficult to ramp due to space issues.
Funding is requested to develop the side garden to provide a dementia sensory garden where our visitors with dementia can sit outside and relax. Paths, seating and raised beds will be installed. The existing entrance ramp will be taken up and relaid to create an even and gentle slope to access the building. The area will be enclosed with a 1.2 metre high fence with gates suitable for wheelchair users and maintenance. Looking after this space will be done by volunteers, who are often gaining as much from this activity as they are giving back.
