Ickworth’s Real Lives – The Servant’s Hall

Ickworth House is a grand Georgian Italianate “palazzo” in an idyllic landscape in Suffolk. The project will open up the old service quarters which lie undisturbed beneath the building, and present them as they were in the 1900s.

The Servant’s Hall, a key room within the basement complex, will be restored to create a multi purpose space for activities, events and learning. The Hall will also be used as an exhibition space and use innovative interpretation to bring the house to life. By opening up this large robust space to the public, the Servant’s Hall will offer a flexible learning space for activities to take place and enable Ickworth to develop and diversify the educational activities it can offer and broaden the range of organisations it works with.
